Anniversary Celebration

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary we headed up north a bit and spent our first night away from Henry.  Even though we left him in some of the best hands possible (Barry's parents) it was tougher than I thought it would be, and I admittedly cried some heev ho sobs as we said our goodbye's and drove away.
Down the road a little bit my state of mind changed as I realized I had my husband all to myself for the next 24 hours.  We had a great drive up past Cincinnati to Batavia, Ohio where we stayed at the perfect little bed and breakfast, 1861.  It was the perfect setting for a relaxing celebration.

We settled into our room that I immediately fell in love with after seeing a fabulous claw-foot tub with a view of our fireplace.  Barry had a bouquet of our wedding flowers, calla lilies waiting in the room to put a smile on my face.
We made a quick change into our swimsuits and headed down to the pool where we were joined by the B&B dogs.  With the sound of water and summer bugs around us we drifted in and out of a nap before popping some pool side bubbly.
Oh and because you can never have too much relaxing, why not draw a little bath before dinner?  Yes, I think that sounds like a plan I can live with.
For dinner we headed down the road about 30 minutes to downtown Cinncinati.  We ate at a wonderfully authentic Italian restaurant called Nicola's.  The dishes were completely divine and they had some unique Italian wines to pair with the meal.  We did all the courses sharing like true Italians, and ended with an espresso and cappuccino.
Cured watermelon salad with pistachio crust, radicchio and goat cheese, carrot and purred sausage with fingerling potatoes, and grilled octopus, the best gnocchi I  have ever touched, pan seared sitting on top of a four cheese fondue and topped with fragrant black truffles, in house made bread topped with zucchini, tomatoes, red onions, or truffle oil, buffalo mozzarella caprese, and a wonderful tuna with pine nut and carrot puree.

It was a great little get away, and our first night away was a success.  :)  It was so good to get back and see our little man!
