Melted Art

Last week we spent one bitterly cold day indoors painting.  He had black and blue paper as his backdrop and white paint only; as we painted a snowy scene to mimic the outdoors.  He used a paint brush, cottonball held by a clothespin, and his hands to create his artwork.
We let is dry and the next day added some decorations to create a melted snowman masterpiece.
I cut out mittens, carrot nose, and black hats for him to glue onto his snowy scene.  It was a great activity for having him recognize, colors and follow directions.  "Can you pick up the Orange triangle and the red mitten?"  We also discovered that picking up pieces of paper that small can be a great way to challenge fine motor skills.   I then added glue while he held the pieces and he placed them on the paper.

Later in the week he built his first snowman and then watched as the next day his painting came to life.  Melted snowman.

The Biggest Best Snowday Ever! (in Henry's life)

Quite the way to spend your Saturday.  We woke up, ate a warm and yummy breakfast and stepped into the day slowly.  We then bundled up for the second time this week to enjoy a new layer of snow.  It was a memory maker for sure, watching Henry sled with his Daddy and building our first snowman as a family.  Henry adored the tall carrot nosed man and suggested we call him "Ice".  We ended the afternoon by introducing him to snow cream.  All around snow day success.

Foto Reel January 26,2013

We couldn't have packed more fun into this week if we tried!!!!!  Well, that is unless we had taken a few days to hit the beach.  :)

We took a family walk to see the horses near our house.  Bundled in our hats knit by my mom and sent up from FL.  We stayed cozy and warm.

We took advantage of MLK day and had brunch with some of my teacher friends.  We then met B at the Children's Museum for an afternoon of fun.  It was a lot of fun to see Barry enjoy seeing Henry in that type of atmosphere.

We delighted in the snowy cold weather and got several good sleigh rides in together, and even built our first family snowman!
Henry had some fun play time this week with his peeps.  A little brunch date with his best girls and a a little bbq and music at Willie's  not a bad week for a 21 month old.
