garbage truck Moments.

The school buses are running, the pencils are sharpened, and the nerves are high as today embarks the first day of a new school year.  This first day feels different though.  For the first time in 6 years I am not a part of it all.  Instead I'm hanging with my favorite little person, in his pajamas, waiting at the front door for the garbage truck.
The decision to be a working mom, or a stay at home mom is one that comes with great responsibility, balance, and many times sacrifice.  If you've been reading here for a while you know that last year as a first time mom learning to balance a baby and work there were tough times, and many tears shed as I walked out the door each morning. I am positive on this day that our family prayerfully made the right decision.  I am so thankful that we are able to make some of the financial sacrifices needed to make these garbage truck moments possible.  I know he would be fine with or without me at home but this momma's heart would be walking around a little bit empty if I was leaving him again this year.
I will dearly miss my job as an ESL teacher and will continue to think about and pray for my former students.  Many of them started with me in 1st grade and are now 5th graders this year.  Thoughts and prayers to all my teachers and especially mommy's who are leaving their house this morning, entering a new school year, new adventures, new students, new challenges, and new heart warming memories.  They are going out to make the biggest difference in the world by educating our children.

  1. We've never met, but I went to high school with Sarah and Katie. I love your reading blog and when I read your posts last year about heading back to work and the tears that came with it, I prayed for you as I read each post. The financial sacrifices and (if I'm being honest) loss of some of your identity as you take on a new role is a scary proposition. The Lord has blessed our choice to keep mama at home IMMENSELY, and I am certain He will do the same for you. It's the best job ever! And we're young-- careers can wait, but babies don't keep. :) Blessings to your sweet family.
