Our little family. in photos.

We recently had a little family photo session.
I love the way Henry's eyes and expressions were captured in these shots.  I feel blessed to have this wonderful little family.
If you are in the area and looking for a great photographer give Mary Maldonado a call.  This was our second session with her and I can truly say she knows what she's doing.  To see our pics from last year and how he has changed you can check out more here on her featured sessions.

Foto Reel Friday- November 8, 2013

Our five favorite moments of the week.  Which is really hard to narrow down when you are around this little sweet pea every day!

One.
We aren't sure if it's his love of being read to or just his personality but I'm pretty sure one of his nicknames must be Sir Talks Alot.  The things that come out of his mouth amaze us and take us by surprise, mainly because I had no clue that he would be basically having conversations with us at a year and a half old.  This week he completely blew my mind.
As I sang the ABC song to him and got to "LMNOP", his little mouth opened up with a smile to say "QRS".  WHAT?  I yelled for B to come in there and told him what happened.  He then started in on the song and again Henry chimes in at exactly the right time to say "EFG! "  He has since then started walking around singing "ABCFG".
He has also started chiming in when we count and is doing well with 1234, 678, 9,11.  His favorite way to count this week has been with the little song 1, 2, he will say "buckle my sue", 3,4 "shut da do", 5, 6 "sticks".  I have nothing else to compare him to all I know is I think he is one smart cookie, and he obviously takes after his daddy here.  :)
 two.
Spending time outdoors with this little man is always a delight.  We met up with some dear friends Mere, Lizzy and there boys to have a little lunch out at Wallace Station.  We enjoyed the drive out there passing horse farms and colorful trees.   We ran around the open field after we filled our bellies and played for a good hour.  He giggled and squealed and filled my heart with joy. For more pics from this little adventure you can check out this post.

three.
I made it out for an evening of fun with some girls to celebrate princess Paige's birthday.  It is always nice as a momma to get out and just have adult conversations sometimes.  I'm blessed to have such a wide variety of friends so close to me.
four.
lazy mornings.  My favorite.  I'm not a morning person, it takes a good two cups of coffee and a few hugs from Henry to perk me up in the morning.  So this week I enjoyed taking it kinda slow and getting a few extra cuddles in while those footed pajamas were still keeping his tootsies warm.
five.
The leaves this week were at their peak.  The colors were vibrant and beautiful.  At times the wind carrying them through the air to create a colorful fall leaf storm that just made you feel alive.   We took advantage of those moments, taking several walks through the crunchy leaves.
This week we are linking up here.

A Fresh Fall Perspective.

We were pretty amazed by this polka dot leaf.
Take a bow little one, you sure have done a lot.  You taught me how to enjoy a season even more than I did before.  Watching your feet crunch through leaves for the first time and seeing the simple pleasure it brings makes me glow with excitement.
You stand in awe at the leaves blowing out of the trees as you shout "Wind ebeywhere!"
Hunting for fallen pine cones has become more delightful to you than any game we could play indoors.  You pick up a leaf and bring it to your face to examine, and your body can't help but dance to a little leaf dancing jig.
Thank you for being mine.  For making every day a delight.  For giving me endless smiles.  For being nothing but wonderful you.

19 Months of Knowing Heaven on Earth

19 Months and curious as can be.
 19 Months brought us:

  • 12-18 month pants and shirts, and john johns.
  • Apparently at nineteen months you become a totally cool little person that's more like a fabulous side kick that occasionally needs their diaper changed and rocked to sleep than a baby.
  • The biggest milestones that we have found have been................well there are too many to count at this age.  For the most part it is his ever growing cognitive awareness and ability to express himself that has us in awe.
  • He has always enjoyed music but lately has requested that it be turned on so he can dance.  Sometimes alone, or sometimes for a quick danceathon when his buddy Lock is around.
  • When we drive in the car it is not uncommon for me to sing a full 20 minutes of Twinkle Twinkle or Old McDonald on repeat at the request of the little guy in the back telling me which song he wants and asking for "mo" every time it ends.
    • His love for these songs has apparently stuck in his head because I was floored when singing it to him the other day and he began to chime in. Singing "like a diamond in the sky", (I mean I about called Rhianna right there!)  and then continuing "tinkle tinkle oh so high".
    • He has started randomly singing "E I E I O farm" and then mooing too.  We have turned that song into a bit of a game where I stop every time and ask him to tell me an animal on his farm.  His favorites are Baaa and Cow.
    • Makes this music loving momma's heart smile.
  • His pretend play time has carried over into his handpuppets and stuffed animals.  He has started turning them towards himself to say "Hi Henry" and holding them up to the window saying "look".
  • He is constantly changing as I have continued to say on this blog; but we now feel like we are having little conversations with him throughout the day and are amazed at all that he says.
  • My favorite Henry quotes of late include:
    •  "Oh my goodness!" His favorite thing to say lately.  I never realized how much I said this before he picked up on it. :)  Sometimes just putting his breakfast in front of him can trigger this response and other times it's seeing something really spectacular like a semi truck, pumpkin, cat, or a slide.  Anyway you slice it, it's a pretty funny thing to hear him say.
    • Me: Do you like going to the park? Henry: "I like it!"
    • Me: Do you like this book? Henry: "I like it!" ETC  how sweet to hear this little answer.
    • Me: "Do you want to go downstairs to play?" his answer now for all "Do You" questions will be an infatic "I do!" or "I don't"  cracks me up!
  • This busy talkative little boy is the delight of our lives.  How God designed kids to get better every month I don't know, but what a genius plan!
This Tuesday we are also linking up for Totally Posted Tuesday.  Come join us!

Foto Reel October 31st, 2013

Our FotoReel from the week is  a combination of all things fall.
1. A little potato stamp pumpkin craft where Henry painted some masterpieces.
2. Crunch the first fallen leaves in our yard.  I savored this moment realizing it was the first time Henry had ever crunched leaves himself.  Last year it was all through a stroller ride.  :)
3. We went trick or treating to a couple houses including BOTH of his great grandparents.
4. One of my great college friends came into town for a weekend visit.  We spent some time at the fall meet for horse racing at Keenland.  Had a delicious brunch together, cooked up a mean pot of burgoo and had some of our favorite people over to enjoy it.  It was a weekend of fun bonding and feeling blessed with the friendships I have been given.
5. We took our family visit to the pumpkin patch where we enjoyed watching this guy walk amongst the pumpkins trying to pick them up and smiling at the sights.

A wonderful end to October and the perfect little moments that make up the great season of fall.
