What I'm Making

I use to make dinner almost every night.
I use to bake.
I use to make gifts for others.
I use to make my bed.
I use to craft.
Since my days currently involve going non stop through work, meetings, Barre classes, grad school, Praxis II studying, and being tired, I'm not making much these days but messes.  Saturdays my body is screaming for some rest.  The house is begging for me to pick up my evidence of busyness from the floor.  Oh and my sweet husband, deserves some love and attention too.
I am catching a huge case of senioritis.  Especially when all I want to do is think about and get ready for this sweet little Baby C inside of me.
Come on December!!!!!!

Orange Dye #7

So  I had the realization the other day that my baby might turn out to be orange in color.  Like Oompa Loompa Orange.   Because I seem to have an affinity for the orange dye in foods these days.
I love sweet potatoes and carrots!

Oh and then there is my daily lunch ritual of having a York Peppermint Pattie, which is currently orange filled and shaped like a pumpkin.

Then there is my nightly snack of 2 (ok sometimes it's 3)  Double Stuffed Halloween Oreos.

Mmmm I love orange dye!

Did I mention I'm working out too?  :)

The Rabbit Hole-Otherwise known as I'm Pregnant

A look back to the beginning of our journey and my thoughts.....

Today, Friday, August 19th I fell into a rabbit hole.

At the other end I found myself feeling more unusual than the norm.  My monthly punctuation was acting like the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.

I found myself curious about where the white rabbit was.  So I nonchalantly took a test.  My jaw completely dropped as I went to check the results.  Not believing or understanding how to read the lines. ( ya know one, two, so confusing right?)  In that state of mind it was.  One dark line, one faint line, what is this half a baby?  So test two, and then Saturday morning, test three and well I guess something's going on huh?

I can't explain the feelings that followed.
I was excited and happy feeling God had blessed us with answered prayers.  Yet I was scared and timid about what would come next.
" I can't be far along."
"So many things could happen." "I wonder if it's healthy?"
"I hope I can handle this."
"Is the sky blue or is it yellow?""Do I walk on the ceiling or the floor?"
"How will this affect my grad school?"
"I hope I don't get sick."  "I hope I get sick so I know there is a baby there."
"What color are it's eyes?"  "Wait does it have eyes?"
"Can I take this allergy medicine?"
"Barry will you finish that bottle of wine I opened last night?"
And they kept on.  And kept on.  And well they haven't stopped.
I realize now I know nothing about babies, or being pregnant, or what's happening in my body.  So I'm finding myself scouring baby websites, and downloading pregnancy apps searching for information.

All the while I'm having to remind myself, Convince, myself I'm pregnant.  Because it truly feels as if I have fallen down the rabbit hole into another dimension.  An out of body experience, only maybe it's a someone's in my body experience?
Barry and I are excited, but still in shock.  It is slowly sinking in.  I pray for a healthy, happy, God fearing baby.  I pray for the strength and understanding to go through whatever journey lies ahead.  Whatever happens with this baby I pray for God to show us his will and path for us.  I pray we are good parents.  And I tear up thinking about it.

Things That Are Scary When Your Husband is Away.

This past week I had to spend four days without my fabulous husband.  As he headed to Auburn for a bachelor party, I held the fort down here with our little furry friend.
I got some work done around the house, worked on grad school, worked out, and visited with family/friends.

But let me tell you something, things get creepy when he is away.  Like wolf howling, fog settling in the dark, walking through a graveyard by yourself scary!  Our scariest moments include, but are not limited to:
A little dog, who is not always as sweet as he looks.  A loud bark in the middle of the night is quite frightening.  You might start thinking thoughts like, "What did he hear?"
"Wait, did I hear something too?"
"Oh my, a serial killer is in my home and all I have to protect myself is a body pillow!"
Taking a shower can be incredibly spooky.  Especially when you hear a huge crash so nearby your sure an intruder is in your home.  Yes, that might just put you and the dog on edge so much that you walk through the house with suds in your hair, armed with a decorative ore.
You might find later that a can of shaving cream fell onto the tile,  eh hmmm (creating a noise).  :)

Always enter a room with the lights on.

Body pillows can look very much like a human waiting to attack you in your bed.
As we know taking a shower can be a frightening task when home alone.  It is also frightening to get out of the shower only to realize you left the back door wide open.....hmmm This calls for another walk through the house with a decorative boat ore and a husband on the phone.
I'm sure it doesn't help that I watch way to many Dateline mysteries for me own good.

Thank goodness he's back!  :)

What do You do with a blue fall sky?

Why you enjoy it with a good friend ya know!? Last week I was blessed with a lil' 4 day weekend called Fall Break. We had wonderful fall weather that was taken advantage by having lunch with Ali and Woods at Six Friends Cafe. We enjoyed yummy crepes, Woods big smiles, and I may or may not have indulged in some pumpkin pie gelato! ( to die for by the way)

We then took our party on over to the arboretum for a nice walk enjoying the fall colors and sweet smells. The scarecrow was a fun added bonus!
What a treat to enjoy all that fall has to offer!

If I Could be Stuck in One Store For a Day

It would be Joseph Beth Booksellers.  A fabulous local bookstore that is an absolute paradise of enchantments bound like a book.
The upstairs provides any section of book you could imagine for adults.  But the true treasure (in my mind) lies downstairs in the children's department.  I could hang out in here for hours, days, maybe even a week at a time!  (hey, there is a lil' cafe upstairs too:) )

Children's books are perfection in my eyes.  I'm not sure if it's the imagination, playfulness, innocence or  because I'm a teacher, but I simply adore them.
So if for some reason I had to get locked in a store overnight.  This would be the place!
P.S. They are having their anniversary sale today, 20% off everything!!!!!!
Think I'll be taking a peek inside!

Happy Sunday!

It began with blue and white whole wheat pancakes. (yes that's blueberries and white chocolate chips). Mmmmm

We enjoyed relaxing most the day, although I did happen to get rid of the clean pile of clothes that had been somehow multiplying quicker than the dust bunnies under my bed!

God gave us a great day looking at the gorgeous colors of fall. As we took a walk this evening we saw it in the trees and in the sky. We are amazing blessed!

It's Fall Ya'll!

I finally got all my fall decs up this week, Yay!  It makes me pleased as punch pumpkin!  :)  The weather has been anything but fall'ish though, and this weekend is no different.  I'm about to go get my swimsuit on and lay out in a pile of leaves.  The trees have changed color with a snap of a finger and are out in all their glory today!  What a beautiful time of year!

A Hubbard gourd in an antique silver bowl, with an old skeleton key my sister Sarah brought me from Italy.

I'm in love with these little silver pumpkins I found at Michael's this year, and of Course I love my big white pumpkin.  I still have plans to dress it up somehow.
Argyle and jewled pumpkins on my make shift burlap runner.
A pinterest inspired wreath, with a Cooper twist.
I'm still finding bits of Spanish moss all over my floor from making this.  :)
Happy Fall Ya'll!  Hope your enjoying this season as much as I am!

For the Love of Counter Space!

In a house that's over 50 years old one thing we lack is kitchen and closet space.  Thanks to a sweet family friend who is handy with wood, a husband who was eager to learn, and a mother and father in-law who were kind enough to help.  We now have more counter space!!!!!  I love having a section of my counter freed up for cooking prep or entertaining.

This is our before, minus two cabinet doors because my mind wasn't quick enough to do a before shot with doors on.  :)

The process.  New cabinet installed.

Microwave installed!

The man who made them is quite the wood worker, and even added these nifty little spice racks on both sides of the microwave.  I am one happy girl in the kitchen!  It may even inspire me to keep it constantly clean, (for a while).  :)
Wa La!  Our finished cabinets, with new microwave!

And two cute spice racks to boot! :)
