FotoReel 28

Week 28 we stepped things up a notch.
as he
became more playful and lovable than ever.

Fell back to our old ways of crumpling into Daddy's arms for sleep.
 Became a world class sitter.
Found more goofy faces and things to make him laugh, most especially eating and grabbing faces.
He spent some great time with great grandparents.
And had a very memorable moment being held by his great Nana for the very first time.
We enjoyed the gifts of fall, taking a drive out through horse farms and finding our way to a local favorite for a long lunch.
He grew more inquisitive in a way that is unexplainable unless you see him every day.  He is getting spunky and enjoys showing you the proof.
We took a walk on a cool fall evening, and heard the leaves rustle, watched the sunset, and learned we need a double stroller.
 We played with pumpkins

And loved this little gift called life with all we could muster.

I'm glad I'm not a horse.

If I were a horse, I would have given birth to a beautiful little foal, who within minutes of being born would stretch out it's legs and begin to take it's first steps all on it's own.
pony pictures taken by my sister Katie.  This equestrian family lives on their land and the foal is named after my niece; Lucky Lady Elise
Immediately running down the path of independence and towards a life where my loving care would no longer be needed.
So thank God I'm a human.  For thirty-seven weeks I carried you in my womb.  We drove, shopped, taught, excercised, laid, sat, and swam our way through life, then together you and I worked to bring you into the outside world.
For the past six months I have been your legs and feet.  If you want to move I take you, sometimes in my arms, sometimes in a stroller, and sometimes in a little pouch resembling a kangaroo.
You're beginning to explore your world more and more, and if I peer around the corner I can see the day when you move on your own quickly approaching.

So I savor these moments where I get to be your means of conveyance.  Where we go on walks and I do the moving and talking for us both.
It is possible that someone has heard me say "when he starts to pull up on things I'm going to push him back down."
Though I don't mean it, a part of me inside wants to push that independent you away for just a little while longer.

I'll just have to remember to be thankful for that fact;
I'm glad I'm not a horse.

Foto Reel Friday-27

Last weekend we headed to Dale Hollow Lake for Barry's cousin Zack's wedding.  It was a beautiful setting, a sweet ceremony and a great way to celebrate a fabulous couple.
It was a special time for us as well because it was the first time Henry was able to meet some of his family members including his Great Papaw Dunn and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Our little bear was all bundled up and a pure joy the entire trip.  His first time in a hotel and he couldn't have done better!
On the way back we were close enough to make a impromptu visit at my parents where we ran into Katie, Lucas and the kiddos.  It was a great little visit and gave us a chance to have Dad blow out some candles for his birthday that was on October 4th.
Mr. Personality had quite the week.   He got sick again for the second time, waking in the middle of the night covered in "puka puke" as I call it.  We went into the same routine from our experience only a few days before of cleaning up, comforting him threw it all and holding him most of the night till the coast was clear.
The following day he woke up feeling briefly better before we handed him to the doctor's for his 6 month checkup.....and shots.  OUCH!
We discovered a great invention during this time, a paci that holds medicine!  It was so much easier to give tylenol and keep that fever down with this little contraption.
He weighed in at 15.11lbs and 27 in. long, and was in the 189% for cuteness.
Over the period of two days being home with him during my fall break I witnessed a big boy moment.  All of a sudden he is sitting with toys in front of him and going from one thing to the next.  We have stepped up our level of playfulness around here.  Grabbing one toy and setting it down to go to the next and then grunting and moving towards the other toys he wants.  So, we went out and purchased some new fun stacking cups and towers for him to explore.
Fall means pumpkins and Henry got to pick out his first.

What a great week, and the fall break only continues into this week.  Making for a short work week and some good Mommy Henry time.  Hooray!

Foto Reel Friday 26

Our 26th week with you was something special.   It's hard to believe my life has been infinitely better for 6 whole months but the calendar doesn't lie.  So we celebrated loving you, in our favorite fashion some time with just the three of us.
You are more playful with each passing day and the amount of personality that your little body contains is mind boggling.
You can tell stories like some of the greats, and you amuse yourself and us at the same time.
Lately you find grabbing, touching, tickling anything with your hand to be a fun game or a good way to calm yourself into a state of sleepiness.
Your bath time cuteness never gets old.
We met sick you this week.  The scary sight of you covered in throw up that just wouldn't stop is something I wasn't prepared for.  Through it all, you were still able to flash your big smile once or twice.  Your demeanor is at all times full of goodness.  We still aren't sure if it was a stomach bug or the newly introduced avocado but we were certainly glad to see it leave.
Since having you this lover of the outdoors hasn't really done much yardening and gardening until now.  On a crisp day of weather perfection only fall can bring we ventured out into the yard to plant some mums.  You watched intently as I plunged the shovel into the ground, and giggled with delight as dirt fell on the ground around you.  Don't think I didn't see that excitement in your eyes.  I am prepared for all the white pillows and chairs to some day have little dirt covered fingerprints adorning them.
Bring on the next 6 months.  Let's just try to soak them up as thirstily as we have the last.

Feels Like Flying

Busy weekends are almost always for a good cause.   The trouble is they make you hit the ground running come Monday.   These days my hours are precious.  When I'm home I want to do nothing but play with this little man.  I know my blog posts have turned to a trickle the past two weeks and I promise to play catch up soon.  :)
But just know that when I'm not typing I'm trying to absorb some fleeting moment with my ever changing sweet son.

He has amazed me more each day, and defying all odds gets seriously more awesome all the time.
So look forward to this weekend's double dose of FotoReel Friday that's coming your way and more posts to keep you in the know with this family on the go.  :)

Some commentary from our 6mo model

Yeah you see those thighs.  You know you're jealous.
Hey let's make this quick Mom, I got places to see.
Hehe yeah you and I both know that joke wasn't that funny.
Smiles like these just come so easy to fun lovin' guys like me. :)

Yep, I'm growing and there's nothing you can do about it.
What do you mean I'm about to outgrow the rock n' play?
And the swaddle?  No, not the swaddles!
Hmmmmph well I may just stay this size forever then.

You mean, you'd like that too?
Well shuckee Darns Ma!  You got yourself a deal!

I think I'm ready to go on tour with a comedy club....I crack myself up man.
We had a happy lil' mini celebration with the three of us last night.  Next time I bake you a cake with a candle you'll be smashing your little hands into it and licking fingers with delight.
We Love You Sugar Bear!

6 Months of Knowing Heaven on Earth

Never has a half of a year gone by so quickly.  But never before have I had something so amazing to track time by.
You are 6 months old sweet baby boy.  I'm amazed by the changes that take place from day to day, week to week, month to month.  To look at pictures of your first month of life is already a bittersweet feeling.  We have all learned a lot around here.  Each milestone you've made has come quicker than I thought it would and I find myself grasping at the moments like sand running through my fingers.

6 months later
Milestones this past month:
Tooth number two made it's arrival, and moved in next door to number one.
Those big chompers were used to try food for the first time; eating rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, bananas and oatmeal cereal.
The exersaucer became the newest attraction in our pursuit of operation Baby Stuff Takeover.   He went from being mildly entertained by it to happily moving from one toy to the next, hitting buttons that make music, and having to have the height moved up a level.
Using the bumbo may not be neaded for much longer.  Wobbling from side to side, he is now sitting without assistance for longer periods of time and sticking a hand out to catch himself from falling over for a moment.
Laughs became louder, smiles became wider, and you found yourself nestled deeper into our hearts.

One thing we know for sure,
You is kind
You is smart
You is important
You is loved
