Last
week we spent one bitterly cold day indoors painting. He had black and
blue paper as his backdrop and white paint only; as we painted a snowy
scene to mimic the outdoors. He used a paint brush, cottonball held by a
clothespin, and his hands to create his artwork.
We let is dry and the next day added some decorations to create a melted snowman masterpiece.
I
cut out mittens, carrot nose, and black hats for him to glue onto his
snowy scene. It was a great activity for having him recognize, colors
and follow directions. "Can you pick up the Orange triangle and the red
mitten?" We also discovered that picking up pieces of paper that small can be a great way to challenge fine motor skills. I then added glue while he held the pieces and he placed them
on the paper.
Later in the week he built his first snowman and then watched as the next day his painting came to life. Melted snowman.
