Color Blocking

I'm joining up with Ma Nouvelle Mode today for the CopyCat Closet series.  These girls are so super fun, but today I encourage you to check out their site not just for this link up but to read Christie's story.  She delivered a little boy who is in need of lots of prayers right now as he just under went the first of 3 heart surgeries.  :(  Breaks my heart and brings me to my knees.  Please keep them in your prayers.

I adore clothes, though I'm not a fashion expert or fashion blogger.  This is a fun way to link up with others and be challenged to come up with an outfit.  This week we were asked to do some color blocking.  I think my look has some improvements but it was my first attempt so I guess I can be cut some slack here.  ;)

Though I really like this WILDCAT Blue bag I thought I could do better.

Yep this is more like it.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.  My greatest accessory.  No outfit is complete without him.
Christie, you will be toting around your sweet Bennett with all your adorable clothes very soon.  XO
the Grant life
This is a really fun way to be asked to come up with a look and I really do enjoy it.  I suggest following them and participating when you can too.  :)  If you sign up they send and email to you on Friday so you have almost a week to think about it, take pics and then post.  See you next time!

The Tooth Fairy

Chompa Chompa Chompa

NomNomNom

Slurp, Chomp, Nom

Since last Monday lil' man has been working very hard.  You see there is a little white spot that has been fighting it's way out into the light.  It finally broke in the last twenty-four hours, Yes my little baby boy is cutting his first tooth.

The weeks leading up to this moment were filled with gallons of drool and hands in the mouth.  Now you are chomping on all your toys, chewing on your paci, and sucking on all articles of clothing around you including but not limited to blankets, blouses, shirts, and oh as of yesterday, toes!  :)

How are you so old already?  I mean your're 21 weeks old and cutting your first chomper?  I hope this doesn't set a precedent here because I'm ok with you not walking till you're two, not driving till your 20, and not marrying till your 55.

It's time to sleep my love

“It’s time to sleep, it’s time to sleep,
the fishes croon in waters deep.”

“The songbirds sing in trees above,
It’s time to sleep, my love, my love.”
-Eric Metaxas
Hello Henry,
You are most definitely a creature of habit, if we are even 15 minutes late at getting you ready for bed at 8:00 we will most certainly hear about it.  But no matter how tired, hungry or fussy you are once you begin to eat your dinner all frowns are turned upside down.
In fact they turn into giggles.

Feedings have become lengthy because you like to pause and have a sweet little conversation about life.  :)  It makes me laugh.  Maybe it is delirium that causes your mood change to come about, but I like it.

Leaning your head back and making a little O shape with your lips you begin to coo.  Then you stare me in the eyes and smile, and coo.  Coo.  Coo.  Coo some more.
Simply the sweetest sound I've ever heard.

I have to remind you why we are sitting in a chair, in the dark, in our pajamas, listening to ocean waves; yes my dear it's bed time, now finish your dinner.

After you have been fed, softly hummed lullabies fill the air as you suck on your paci and fight shutting your eyes.  Now that you like holding things this has turned into a game.  You pull out your paci hold it in your hand like a cool cigar and have conversation once more.

No more rocking you to sleep.  Nowadays I have to swaddle you and lay you in your crib to signal it's time to sleep my love.  While being swaddled you smile and giggle until you're completely wrapped like a burrito with a paci popped in.  You turn your head to the side and begin to chill as your eyes flutter to the sound of my humming song.
What a funny little guy you are.

While many mommy's and daddy's fight bedtime with fusses or cries, I am trying not to encourage your "play time" by laughing at you.  :)  You're something else.  Full of personality, and I see years of bedtime fun ahead.  You're going to be that kid who "isn't tired" until the moment you pass out.

If you haven't read this book I suggest you pick it up.  Quite possibly the sweetest bedtime story.

Foto Reel Friday-20

It's Foto Reel Friday.
Time to take a look at what we did this week in pictures.

It was our second week of mommy working and I still find the mornings to be a sob fest but Oh the joy of coming HOME!
We immediately dive into a good book.
Then I usually wear him for some dance sessions/cooking dinner.
Our weather was a taste of fall perfection soon to come.  We enjoyed our book reading outside on a blanky Monday.  I believe the half day of work is going to be my friend, I heart you Mondays.
We took time to enjoy our adorably cute feet.
We had a few back yard flying lessons.
One afternoon lil' man had taken a sip of grumpy juice and so I danced/held him into a sleepy state of mind.
When he awoke I discovered the true Henry revealing himself once more.  These are the faces I see minutes after he wakes from a good nap.  :)
Daddy and I had handsome fests.  Mommy likes to look at us both and try to take in all the handsome happenings in one small area of space.

We can't read a book without his hands grabbing the pages now.
Hands began to explore everything, especially cups.
 And our faces.
We enjoyed our last few weeks of Rock N' Play time before we are too big to fit.

We ventured out to the Woodland Art Fair and met up with his buddy Lock.
 Keightley gave us licks.
Met up with work friends for some live music and babies in our cute lil' downtown.

Ah it was a good week.  But Man Oh man am I happy it's Friday!  Have a great weekend!

Mama Mia Pizzaria

This simple pizza dish came out of a craving for a little italian pie I had a few weeks ago.  I didn't want to order a pizza from somewhere and end up with a pound of grease in my belly so I decided to whip up a simple homemade one.

Baby Wearing

My absolute favorite clothing accessory has to be.....
Henry
Since Henry loves to be held I have found that wearing him is the only way I can get stuff done sometimes.  So, even if his ever growing body makes my back hurt, this is how we cook dinner, swifter the floor, and sometimes just have fun.  :)

We use the Baby Bjorn sometimes but my go to is the Maya Wrap. (Thanks for the suggestion Sarah Hillyer!)  We had attempted the Moby for a while but this lil' momma just wasn't intelligent enough to figure out how to work that 20 foot long piece of fabric without getting caught like an amateur spider trying to make a web.

This video entertains me to know end.
Henry and I practice this dance at least once a day.
